CD ReviewsA Voice of Rare Beauty Julian Kerrell-Vaughan | Hong Kong | 01/24/2008 (5 out of 5 stars) "I first heard David D Q Lee at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition where he sang 'Va tacito e nascosto...' from Handel's opera 'Giulio Cesare in Egitto'. There was a richness and beauty in the voice, an agility in the coloratura and such good taste in the ornamentations. Frankly, the boy made my hair stand on end and salute...he is way up there in the top 5% of world countertenors with none of the reediness or nasal colouring. His high notes as perfectly mellow and rich as his lower; a magnificent performance. And in this CD, there is little one can add to my fellow reviewer's words. David Lee's voice is a rare pleasure, and as mellow and mellifluous in this recital with piano as he was with the orchestra in Cardiff. I trust and pray we will have many, many more CDs from him! Could he not be tempted to a full Handel programme? Ho leng'zhai...ho ho leng!"
