Synopsis

Album Description
On Arco's 2002 debut the band were compared to the likes of Belle and Sebastian, Low, Red House Painters, Nick Drake, Mark Eitzel. Arco have continued ploughing their own sweet furrow in their own sweet time, and now, four years after Coming To Terms stole listeners' hearts (and breath) away, they release their second album - Restraint. Eleven more songs of desolation and consolation, eleven more stars glittering in the firmament - and every note and every word with its own role to play in the unforgettable whole. Dreamy. 2004.

CD Reviews

Slow and Beautiful Indie Pop Deserves Bigger Following
M. JEFFREY MCMAHON | Torrance, CA USA | 07/17/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Arco is a trio from London writing sad, melancholy songs that are compared to Nick Drake and Belle & Sebastian. Believe it or not, their songs are slightly wispier and slower. One thing for sure, their songs are consistently beautiful and melodic. If you're looking for powerful, riveting emotional rock, don't look here. If you're looking for sleepy music, along the lines of the Red House Painters, then you've found the right band. If you like this aching folk music, you might want to check out some of the slow songs of Camera Obscura and Cherry Orchard and all of the songs by the equally folksy Flower Machine."

"This is a good cd, "perfect world" is an amazing song, I also liked "happy new year", "second skin" and "alien".

There were no songs I disliked, though a few of the songs can be a little forgettable. I would say it is definitly worth buying.

If you are a fan of Kdrama, the song "perfect world" is one of the main songs of the drama "coffee Prince". Some of his other songs were showcased also as far as I remember.Korean TV Series ~ Coffee Prince ~ New Korean Drama (2007)

Their sound reminds me of Radiohead around the time of OK Computer, a very slow, melodic journey out to sea feel."
