CD Reviews

Worthy of the Ministry of Sound name

(5 out of 5 stars)

"Just in time for Christmas comes the follow up to Ministry of Sounds anthem compilation. Containing the massive tracks that kept everyone up and dancing this superb release is worthy of its predecessors and the Ministry of Sound name.

Spread over three discs are highlights that will send you back in time to when you first went clubbing, trigger memories of people you met while clubbing and engage your body into the desire to sway to the movie with your head above your head.

From New Order's song Blue Monday which opens the compilation through to Pjanoo by Eric Prydz which closes out the third disc, there are so many songs spread throughout the album, which contain all the energy that we have come to know and love from Ministry of Sound releases.

Not sticking to any one genre, there are healthy doses of house, trance, and break beats. One of the only genres that it doesn't go over is Hi-NRG. Though there is going to be something in this compilation that will appeal to just about any listener.

Featuring hits from the big names like Groove Armada, Paul Van Dyk, Cut Copy and Deadmau5 the album is packed for your listening pleasure.

The mixing of the album is very simplistic with only a few bars overlapping each track. This works in the album's favour as it means more play time of your favourite tracks. It also adds less confusion as to what track you are listening to and a more defined moment to pick when you are going to hit the skip button, if ever, on your cd player.

For lovers of dance music, this is a stunning follow-up to the 2008 Anthems release. Worth every cent, make sure you pick a copy up now. It's an ideal Christmas present and will be even better when you have your Christmas eve party and need something that everyone will like. It's inoffensive and people friendly. Go out and get your copy now."
