Synopsis

Product Description
The success of Frank Sinatra's Only The Lonely album prompted several singers to record similar concept albums, with Andy Williams subsequently issuing Lonely Street in 1959. Whereas Frank's album had concentrated almost entirely on ballads, Andy's album varied the repertoire somewhat, delving into both blues and jazz alongside the more traditional pop material. Andy's sixth album for the Cadence label, each track was personally selected by the singer.

CD Reviews

Another Classic ANDY WILLIAMS Hit
Kelly R. Mix | salem, oregon USA | 05/10/2000
(5 out of 5 stars)

"WOW. How marvelous to have this wonderful album out on CD. Originally released in 1960 by Cadence Records, this was a smash hit for Andy. The title song Lonely Street was a number 5 charted hit single in late 1959. In January 1960 this album was released, and ended up spending several weeks on the charts, reaching number 38. Another fine hit collection by one of the greatest POP singers our our time."
Lifelong fan's favorite Andy album
Amy Waggoner | Minneapolis, MN USA | 12/29/2000

"My mom was an Andy Williams fan so, as a toddler, I was exposed to this gentle crooner. I've been an Andy fan for 40 years and this superb collection of beautiful and haunting love songs is my all-time favorite Andy Williams album. "You Don't Know What Love Is" will make you weep. "In the Wee Small Hours", "Willow Weep for Me", "Unchained Melody" and "Lonely Street" are soothing delights. Andy has recorded a gazillion pop hits and covers, but there's something about this album that places it a cut above the others. It's classy and a classic."
