This is the 1960 Vienna performance, one that has been written about in so many books. Now you can own it yourself, and find out what all the praises were about. Tebaldi is fresh-voiced, and this is one of her very best Chenier's. Franco Corelli is devastating, as is the tremendous Ettore Bastianini, who's bronze and velvet comes through magnificently. Matacic's incredible conducting of the music and singers is superb. A must have for a fan of ANY of the above! This CD set also has far above average sound -- very good, consistent sound."
