"I think this album has some great songs. Valentine is a great rocker song and while it is not a usual America melodic tune, it is still a great song. You could have been the one is a classic. This is a must for America lovers."

"This album represents some of the best tracks, I feel, the guys have produced. Riding on the back of a successful closing 70's and a new 80's decade. This album has a slight hardcore feel about it. A brilliant sound from one of the greatest rock groups today.... 30 years on and still going strong!!!

"I've been a fan of America for nearly 30 years (and never mind how that dates me). Their music got me through some tough times in high school in the 70's. "Alibi", released in 1980, is my favorite of any album they've ever released...and believe me, it's tough to top their "Homecoming" album. As long as I live, I will never, ever understand why "Alibi" wasn't a huge hit. There are at least 5 potential hit singles on it. "Coastline" is a showcase for Gerry Beckley's ethereal voice. "Survival" pairs meaningful lyrics with a bouncy melody. "Right Back To Me," "You Could've Been The One," and "Might Be Your Love" are just plain enjoyable. I think this is one of America's bouncier, more peppy albums. There's little here that's as deep or nebulous as, say, the song "Sergeant Darkness" (my all-time favorite America song) from the "Harbor" album. But "Alibi" sure is a whole lot of fun."

"A very good album that went unnoticed when it was released. Only their second studio album after Dan Peek left, Dewey Bunnell and Gerry Beckley make up for the loss of Peek by recording several songs they did not write. It works very well. While none of the songs became even minor hits in the US, several songs were hits in other countries like Survival and Right Back To Me. Best songs include Catch That Train, I Do Believe In You, and Valentine (which I think may be America's best rocker). One thing that may have hurt the album was the cover. While it is very colorful, it tends to turn many people off. They also changed their standard America logo."

"In general a very good album. Released in 1980, it didn't do well in the US, but was a hit in Europe and Mexico. Survival was a number 1 song in Europe and Right Back to Me was a hit in Mexico. Other strong songs include: I Do Believe In You, Valentine, and Catch That Train."
