One of the great coloraturas.

"While these vocals were recorded seventy plus years ago, and one must make some allowences for the lack of sophisticated recording equipment of the time, Amelita Galli-Curci remains one of the greatest sopranos of this century in the bel canto tradition. These recordings are well done with a minimum of the hiss or "noise" of which any collector of early opera recordings is familiar. Ms. Galli-Curci's unique voice never fails to amaze with her vocal range and agility. There are also several duets on this CD and it is always a pleasure to hear the diva's coloratura soaring with a tenor or baritone. If you enjoy early opera, Amelita Galli-Curci is to sopranos what Enrico Caruso is to tenors."
