Perhaps a new discovery for me but apparently this husband and wife team have been rocking Mali and West Africa already for decades and their fame has since spread to Helsinki, Paris, and the UK. There's a full hour of songs on this CD sung in French, Bambara and Dogon and almost every one is fun to dance to thanks to the R&B influence mixed in with Malian beats. The melodies are simple yet embellished, the guitar riffs cool, their voices compliment and they could sing in any language and still sound good. A totally down-to-earth style so many are finding enjoyable. - Madonna can crucify herself on stage all she wants but I'd still rather listen to Amadou and Mariam.
