Lacking some sonic and musical quality

"I was not familiar with Peter Mendoza, but am a big fan of Al Bowlly. These songs are all fine, but not wonderful, sounding like the material in any number of Fred/Ginger films. And the sonics on them sound a tad over-cleaned. There is a hollowness that is not present on my other recordings from the same period. Though it's always a pleasure to find new material, Al's voice sounds better elsewhere, and the liner notes could offer a bit more info--there is very little describing the performers (I guess it is unavaliable--but for a full-price CD I'd like more)."
