Synopsis

Product Description
"The Perfect Rose," Traditional Carols of Christmas "In the olden days," evokes images of Dickensian period dress ? mufflers and mittens, apple cider and eggnog shared by a roaring fire after an evening of strolling the chilly city streets singing Christmas Carols. No matter that I have never seen falling snow, or that during childhood, many of our Christmas school breaks were spent in the California desert; those cold, crystal clear desert nights always reminded me of what the Baby Jesus must have seen when He looked up at the star-filled Bethlehem night. This collection of Christmas Carols is timeless and personal. Every song originated in western Europe ? Denmark, France, England, Spain, Germany, Ireland; or in the folk cultures of rural America. They embody a heritage that has become very nearly absorbed into American culture. Their familiarity encourages a sense of inclusion, comfort and warmth, humming along, closing one?s eyes and imagining medieval England, or Appalachia in the nineteenth century. These visions of times gone by speak to something inside all of us who are descendants of pilgrims and pioneers. We have included some carols that while not the most popular or well known, strike a harmonic chord within us. If you are left feeling longing and completeness, sorrow and joy, wonder and awe, excitement and calm, after listening to these songs, then they have worked their magic and found the harmonics in your soul. Merry Christmas. "God Bless Us, Every One"
