Sing! with the modern church
Karen M. Ward | Seattle, WA USA | 08/16/2002
(5 out of 5 stars)

"i'm stoked by some of the fresh artists that are emerging for god and singing "new songs." aaron spiro is one of those artists. his music is not what has been labeled "contemporary" (which is code for music with a mostly 70's feel). instead, aaron is truly an artist from today's generation, who is bringing fresh (post)modern songs into the emerging church. trust me... this native seattle rocker is gonna tear through the church and reach across into the secular mainstream, so just buy the c.d., and you'll sing! karen ward

Raw Thoughtful Lyrics

"Bought this CD way back in the day, then I lost it, then i bought it again in a bargain bin & now i'm buying it again through amazonMP3s... I really enjoy the musical construction throughout the album; it's catchy w/o being cheesy poppy. The real genius behind this album is the use of his lyrics... for example, the chorus goes "I surrender I lie down I give up Enough of the bleeding My chest hurts From all this digging Under my dirt"... lyrical construction so simple i wonder why I didn't think of it, yet very thought-provoking & profound. I enjoy the subliminal intensity which forms the bedrock of this album."
Filled the Sea

"Aaron's CD showed up @ a recent $2 sale. What a great addition to my collection! The title track is a bubbly tune with Aaron's vocals mixed front & center, "Sing in the Spirit filled with the truth, Sing like there's nothing else you can do." "You Are the One" is another sterling track that makes the sale on the catchy chorus, "You are the one that filled the sea; You are the grace that carried me; You pulled me through; I will follow after you." "Pray Like Breathing" also sparkles with an addictive bass line by Aaron Sands and stinging electric lead guitar by David Larring, "Pray for meaning (Never ceasing) when you work." The set concludes with two strong tracks, the meditative "Forever & Ever" and the midtempo "Let the Hallelujahs Cover You." This CD is well worth discovering. Enjoy!"
