By the time this long-awaited album saw its release date, most fans had probably heard the smash singles Street Gangstah & Kamasutra on various internet radio stations, MySpace, the streets and live performances by AK Killah. In addition, the first single of the album, Confianza (Muy Poca) a firestorm of a song was born of a desperate and angry heart tired of witnessing so much injustice and cruelty. The song detailed various subject that we, as a society are confronting right now, such as religion, immigration, money, police cruelty; and all of this is in the first verse of the song, truly a remarkable piece. The second part of the song, which AK Killah feels at heart, he revealed against the Bush administration for sending his comrades in the US Armed Forces to war. You can feel the commitment, pain, determination, courage, and honor in his raw style. It is difficult for artists to grow & mature in their music and show real talent in todays music industry. AK Killah has shown and proven he is worthy of being considered one of those few artists with his first album, Fiel A Mis Raices Track after track you can see how this young artist evolved within his own world. Not just giving you the typical album full of commercial with no meaning product, but instead taking you further than you would expect to go with an independent artist. AK Killah is a poet with the ability to convert his poetry into music and reach the audience. Un Poeta Urbano nonetheless. He comes from the streets of Los Frailes (Dom. Rep) and Washington Heights (New York City), so he grew up surrounded with violence, sex, drugs, etc. and this is clearly stated in some of his track like, My Block and Imma Killah. Raised mostly by women AK Killah knows the struggles and obstacle our ladies have to endured to get ahead in life; therefore, is no surprise that he would dedicated the song Is Not Easy (La Historia) to them. However, this is a different kind of song, where he brings the side of what women go through when they are raped by their fathers; left to be single mother; convert into lesbian, and so forth. AK Killah, in his own way is trying to bring music back to heart and not just to the hips. by: Flow Callejero Magazine.
