Begun in 1969, the Philip Glass Ensemble was formed by Philip Glass to be the vehicle for his music. Comprised of keyboards, woodwinds, and voice, the PGE became the exclusive group for which he composed for a number of years. This collection includes early work written for this fine group of players between in the years 1969 and 1970 when the young composer was developing his mature musical voice.
