Backstage Pass
Mr. Richard D. Coreno | Berea, Ohio USA | 08/21/2009

"Jonah Koslen may be best known as a co-founder/guitarist/songwriter/singer for the Michael Stanley Band, but from 1978-1981 he branched out on his own with one solo album (Back Tracks) and a pair of albums with his band Breathless (1979, Breathless; 1980, Nobody Leaves This Song Alive).

This definitive retrospective of Breathless - it contains nearly every track from the two albums, which were originally released on EMI America Records, and two bonus live cuts - shows the Cleveland, Ohio-based group in full flight with incredibly well-crafted material. The single off the debut release, Takin' it Back, made it to #92 on the Billboard Hot 100 and the band benefited from heavy rotation on national radio juggernaut WMMS, which bolstered album sales in northeast Ohio.

On stage is where Breathless really seized the spotlight and Why Are Lovers Always the Last to Know (1979, the Shore Theatre) and the neat Glued to the Radio (1980, Cleveland Agora) are sizzling numbers in front of enthusiastic North Coast fans. This was not solely a regional act, though, and the music holds up very well after all these years. Cleveland Rocks!

Great Memories

"Over the years, I've lost, misplaced, or moved without 2 of Breathless's cd's, 2 tapes and LP's. I was not going to pay over $46.00 to replace what I've already bought over the years, so buying this MP3 "Album" makes a lot more sense. $7.99 to bring back summer memories of living in the Cleveland area and concerts at BGSU, Cleveland Agora, Akron Agora, and parties with my high school and college friends are well worth the purchase price. I can't wait to share with my California buddies and show what "real" music from the 70's sounded like.

Thanks Amazon!!!"

"i bought ,and still have breathless "no one leaves this song alive",on vinyl.my good friend owns a vintage record store in a neighboring suburb and has been unable to procure this cd or album for me.

i came home to amazon and ordered it 3 times before finally getting it.

jonah is an enigma,or at least it seems that way, because i can't find anything more he did ,other than with msb.

this cd includes many songs from the aforementioned album, and some songs i had never heard before...........IT IS MY OPINION THAT WE HAVE BEEN ROBBED OF SUCH A GREAT TALENT!!!

jonah ,please get back in the studio and perform your spellbinding magic for us fans and the new ones waiting in the wings.......

my 9 volt is in my transistor, and even donnie iris is a ghost.......give me some more .

the band that carries your name now is a disgrace to you and me........

i need a great writer and guitarist in our band.......you are cordially invited.........."
