Would it be possible to shorten the time you give members to respond to a trade. Waiting a week for someone not to respond is a waste. I think if people aren't actively trading then they should be out the option to trade. I think three days is more than enough time to respond.

Are you giving up on LaLa's new focus too. I have used Swapacd in the past and then transferred to LaLa since they had a larger trading base of users. Now that they seem to be going away from trading I think I will come back to Swapacd.

Well I finally go the CD, after twelve attempts of people not responding to the request, someone finally sent it to me. It has been on my Wish List as #1 for a long time.

"Then you'll have the package returned to you."

I have mailed all my CD's with a 75 cent stamp on them and have never had one returned to me for postage due. So far I think I have sent around 50 CD's.

I have had this CD on my wish list for a long time and so far I have had it requested 6 times and each time it was cancelled because the sender did not respond. Of course it takes a week for each timeout so I have been waiting a long time for it. Oh well hopefully someone will actually have it and send it to me.

I can understand some off the wall music not listed but I am trying to list some well known popular CD's, and the "Remaster" version of that CD is listed but not the original CD that was released is not listed. Is there a way for us to update the database???

Thanks

Thanks for the reply Daniel, I signed up for LaLa but I could not see how to trade CD's and I was wondering if there was a different LaLa site. I will send them a message and see how that goes.

Thanks

Don

I just talked to our mailman and he told me that the reason I have gotten a few broken CD's is that all mail dropped off into a mailbox will go through a machine even though it is marked "Fragile" and we pay a "Non-Machinable Fee". He said the best way to ensure it will not go through the sorting machine is to take it to the post office and tell them to sort it by hand. I USED to just print out a mailer and put on a 75 cent stamp my CD to mail and then put it in the mailbox, I guess I will start taking them to the post office.

I have been reading in these forums about Lala so I decided to see what they where about and I cannot see where people are trading CD's. It looks like a site where people upload their MP3's and can access their music anywhere they want.

I am really getting frustrated that I am trying to list CD's that are not listed in the data base except as "Remasters". I am currently trying to list all of my Kiss and Motley Crue CD's and the only thing that will come up is the remastered listing. These are not off name bands here, they should be able to be listed.

Which proves my point in that the complaining should be directed at the post office, not at each other.

I think that if you recieve a broken CD it is not the blame of the sender, it is the fault of the USPS for using their sorting machine even though it is marked as fragile, and if any members of SACD is going to get upset they should vent their anger at the USPS and not at the sender. I have recieved CD's that are bubble wrapped with two pieces of cardboard and they are still broken. And yes I have recieved many CD's that are wrapped in just paper and they are fine. I also belong to Blockbuster Online and rent DVD's through the mail, their shipping method is just a paper sleeve inside of a paper envelope. I think in the two years of renting DVD's I have recieved two damaged discs. I wonder how they code their envelope's???

Another solution would be to have the SACD administration require all senders to mail the CD in its case.

I have Bon Jovi's New Jersey CD, and there are only 4 matches. The only one with the same tracks listed is the Remaster version. I will try and remember to PM the person if someone orders it.

I don't want to ruffle anyone's feathers out there, but I want to list a CD and the closest match I get is listed as a remaster but I know mine is not and I know that listing it would be considered blasphemous to all the audiophile purists out there. So should I list the CD as a remaster with the correct tracks listed or as a different version of the CD with the wrong track listing???

Am I correct in assuming (you know what they say about assuming :) in that the reason this great site was created was so that I could trade my CD's that I no longer want for someone else's CD's that they no longer want and we get all this marvelous trading for FREE. Sometimes I wonder about what people expect when they get something for FREE. If they wanted a specific CD why don't they go down to their local store and buy it (not for FREE like you get here). I can say that I am one of the guilty people that mistakenly listed the wrong version of a CD because when I looked up a CD I picked the closest version without noticing the Re-Master version. For that I am sorry, but I do appreciate the fact that I got all these FREE CD's that I would not go to the store and pay for, and I got them for FREE.

Thanks to all the people for all the hard work keeping this great site going strong.

My 2 cents

Don

Wouldn't it be nice if we could deposit money into our SwapaCD account and when we print out a mailer the postage would be printed also and then $1.25 would be deducted from our account instead of 49 cents???

What, if anything do you do about unresponsive people that post CD's? Twice now I have had CD's on my wish list waiting for the other member to accept the swap and there is not any activity. I have had to cancel the swap and get the next CD on my wish list. I look up their profile and notice that they had posted their 10 CD's so they can get a free CD. Do you check people's profile to see the last time they logged on? The two profile's I looked up were created in 2006 but I doubt they have logged on anytime lately.

You can do what I do, I just buy a bunch of .75 cent stamps and just put one stamp on each package and then drop it in the PO Box. I don't even ask the clerk and have not had one returned to me yet. : )

When I search for a CD I want to put on my wish list, a lot of the times there are multiple listings for the same CD but from a different Label Company, do I have to add each different version so that on my wish list it shows that I want the same CD. I really do not care which Label I get the CD from. In example if you search for the new Pussycat Dolls album, there are over ten listings for the same CD, should I add each one to my wish list??

Thanks

Don

Is anyone else having a problem looking up a CD by its UPC??? When I started swapping CD's I had no problem posting CD's by their UPC's, now when I try to look up a CD there does not seem to be enough numbers on the CD to fill in the space on the look up field.

TIA

Don
