Here's what the Help Center (Browse Help Docs) has to say:

We are sorry, but at this time we do not have the ability to add CD information into the database, and this includes cover images. This is because we are under contract from our database provider with certain restrictions. However, we do recognize that cover images improve the CD listing and we will be working to provide a way for them to be added in the future. Our database provider is also constantly making additions, so there is always a chance a missing cover image will be added at a later date.

Here's the info from the Help Center :

If a CD you sent is declared Lost in the Mail at SwapaCD:

  • As the sender, you should call 800-ASK-USPS or go to http://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/mlntrcvd.aspx (the Postal Inspection Service's website) and input the information online there . This will help USPS try to recover your CD if it truly has been lost in the mail.
    • This form at USPS is titled "Mail Theft"
    • This does  not mean only theft of mail.  USPS categorizes any mail that does not arrive or that is tampered with as "mail theft".
  • You can get the information about the transaction from the Transaction Archive:
    • Click "Transaction Archive" in the menu under My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site
    • Click the Request Details link on the right of the "lost in mail" transaction
    • If you need more information (such as requestor address) you can ask the requestor in a Personal Message for that information.
      • We are unable to provide member address information outside of the duration of an active transaction, due to the SwapaCD Privacy Policy.
      • You can use the button on the transaction to contact the requestor.
  • If USPS does return your CD to you, and it is undamaged and still playable:
    • You should ask the requestor (using the button on the Lost transaction in your Transaction Archive) if she or he still wants it.
    • If she or he does, you can re-send it.  If she does not, you can repost it.

Like Kayote and Jerri stated, I have all my wishs set to D O, but am always delighted to get artwork, too  - my tower has been on hold for some time now, but when I was active, I sent the artwork if I had it regardless of the request - If I want to keep any part of the artwork, like lyrics, I scan it.

Have any (or all) of you tried sending this question through 'Contact Us'??  I'm not sure how closely they watch the forums, but surely they read the pm's/emails.....  The more of you that contact them that way, the more likely they are to realize it's a problem.

I can't tell you how or why they originally developed that rule, but I have two sets that only have two or three tracks on the 2nd cd - lasting less than 30 mins.    That hardly seems worth a 2nd credit...

Either the requester had the cd on auto-request and had at least the one needed credit and fee, or they did, in fact, request the cd and had the requisite credit & fee.  I've had my account on 'vacation hold' for about 6 mos., but I occasionally find and order a cd that I want, or one of my wishlisted cd's gets posted.  If the credit and fee weren't there, the request could not go through.  As long as you do your part, you will get your credit.

Since technically, no one but the record company 'owns' a promo, it isn't just a SaCD rule to NOT allow them. It could cause problems for the site if someone wanted to be snarky.

Play by the rules or play somewhere else!!

That's what I think...  Plus, if they sent a pm requesting more credits, I'd let TPTB know via feedback.  An official 'admonishment' may be all they need.

Sarah,  the SaCD Team does peruse the forums somewhat, but you aren't too likely to get help from them by posting here.  I suggest that you send, basically this same message, to the Team via the Contact Us link found at the bottom of every page.  They may be able to take into consideration, the short length of time that you've been a member.

To answer your first question, no, there isn't a way to go back and change the way you marked the cd.   If the sender offers your credit back, then it's your choice whether you would want to contact the Team about your 49¢  fee.

I can only suppose that members often post CDs meaning to have them on Hold but then fail to make sure they are actually listed that way....  Also, they could have had that CD requested on another site, and just hadn't removed it from their SaCD tower (I dislike multiple site listings for that very reason).  Someone else in the home may have taken it, broken it, lost it, given it away....  It's annoying, but at least it isn't costing you anything while you wait for a response or search for another one to order - unlike my recent order for a compressor part that was to be shipped within 24 hrs (credit card charge went thru immediately) - to be notified a week later that it was now on back-order, and two weeks after that to be notified that it was no longer available.  Then I had to call and fuss to get the refund back on my credit card.

Don'cha just love it when the response to your problem is, "That's nothing - let me tell you my story...!"  heh heh heh

Hi Kim,  I think she needs to make up her mind how she's going to mark it and then do so - you can't return a credit unless you receive one - so you need to know how it will be handled by SaCD before you proceed...'

If she marks anything other than just the standard 'received', she gets her credit back and if she doesn't respond at all, it will default to 'lost' - in any case no one deserves 2 credits back + the cd (or in this case, 2 CDs), so don't send anything until it's marked.

It must have been a matter of timing - unless there was a glitch, the account must have gone on Vacation Hold AFTER your request went through  -  has your request been accepted? If they reject or don't respond to your request it will go to the next in line (eventually)....

I  posted a cd to my tower just to check, and you aren't even shown the genre.  It's not one of the required match-ups.

When you post a book on PBS, a screen comes up asking verification of what you are posting - is YOUR book the hardback edition (or paperback-whatever) and shows a list of other editions.  This would be SO helpful - I know nothing about remasters, gold discs, etc.  Unless a difference is GLARINGLY obvious, I check that the artist, title and tracks for my UPC match the post.  If a screen came up asking if mine was the Gold Disc, or a remastered disc, then I'd realize that I needed to do more checking...

Len, actually, you're correct either way - and that can (and may) be pronounced  'ee-thur'  or 'eye-thur'.

Steve, I read that as meaning you can't offer a much-wished-for cd for more than one credit, nor can you offer to pay more than one credit for a cd that you want...

eta: In other words, no horse-trading!

Len, the one thing that I'd like to see added is a suggestion for posters to edit their thread headers to show that the disc or offer is no longer available  - Closed;  Gone;  Too Late; whatever - so others wouldn't continue to look and pm requests.

No, Brandy, we seem to be the step-child in this trio of sisters.  But we certainly are a MUCH smaller site than PBS - I'm not a member on the DVD site so am only guessing from other comments (on PBS) that it quickly out-stripped this one for membership, etc..

Russ, I haven't noticed any new postings by Laura in quite some time.  You should try sending a personal message as she may not visit the forums anymore.  The button is right under her name at the top of this thread.

BTW, if you click on someone's nickname (they have to have a nickname to send them a credit) it takes you to their profile and there is a button there to send credit(s).
