CD Reviews

Bought This CD Last XMas Season...I'd Give It A B+ Overall!!

"I've been a fan of Harry Connick Jr. since 1991, I have quite a few of his CD's

and respect his musicianship immensely as well as his forays into acting.

When I bought this CD during the 2008 Christmas season, I liked 75% of the tracks,

while others lagged and took away from the overall good spirit of the album I thought.

"The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year" is defintely a stand out and opens the CD beautifully.

I won't dwell on the lackluster songs other than to say that this CD was probably culled from

past sessions of Christmas material. But there are enough good songs on here for me to recommend

it as an addition to your 2009 Christmas music collection.

I am listening to it now as I type this!"
Disappointingly overdone

"What a disappointment. I have heard Harry Connick Jr. sing some beautiful Christmas songs before, but the arrangements on this album were severely overdone and often made no sense. I think the highlight of the album was his duet w/ his daughter on Winter Wonderland and it still left me feeling cheated. I was most disappointed in "Let There Be Peace on Earth", one of my all time favorites, which was so off key and hacked up, it was almost unrecognizable. I can see "jazzing" up the standards, but again, the arrangements were just over the top and instrumentation riffs, often over done and unnecessary.

Next time, I will be sure to listen to the album for free before spending any money on it."
