CD Reviews

Nice blend of radio-ish Christian alternative rock
Robert Burns | Royal Oak, MI USA | 10/07/2003
(3 out of 5 stars)

"I thought I'd chip in with a slightly more detailed review than the ones previously offered. The reason why you might consider buying this album is if you're looking for a CCM band with an almost-but-not-quite edgy sound with good production values and lyrics that are contemporary but really not too far from what's typical for the subculture (although Sarah Masen's song and "Lost the Plot" [which I believe was penned by Steve Taylor] are refreshing exceptions as songs willing to step outside the slickness and use the microscope on what we usually accept uncritically). The sound is pretty consistent throughout; production values are high, and the "flow" of the album is actually quite good.Another reason this album works is that it culls songs from these artists which are both "hard" and musically interesting. "Lost the Plot" is the best song off of the Newsboys' "Take Me to Your Leader", nothing I've ever heard by Smalltown Poets is as good as "Monkey's Paw", and the Geoff Moore song featured here is the only one I can stand to listen to from him.I did go on to buy "Reality Check" after being impressed by their song on here - and that album is very good as a alternative-rap mix (they're better than 311, their secular sound-alike, IMO). And that's another value of this album - if you like the song on here, you may like the album by the same artist. You may not, though, as they picked the good songs for this collection.Even if not, this album is good on its own as a CCM alternative to the alternative rock radio station in your town."
This CD is so cool!

"This cd is awesome! I love all these songs!! My favorites are Butterfly, I'm Free, Super good feeling, Suckerpunch, The Way I am, and Superfriend. If you like Christian Rock. Get this CD! It mixes some of the older groups, in with some of the newer groups, while providing hours of fun and entertainment. Get this CD. You've got to!"
Best CD for alternative Christian Rock

"This is my favorite CD! It has all my favorite songs from my favorite groups! Better than the first one. Songs 7 and 16 are my favorite on the album."
