CD Reviews

Double Con Job
05/06/2001
(1 out of 5 stars)

"Not only are these re-recordings of great old hits, but they're not even by the same musicians. As the original lyricist/drummer of one of the bands with a hit on this album, I can assure you that this wasn't the original band. Say, it was a six-piece group. Well, decades ago, four or five of us six sold our rights away to claim any title on future covers of our original tune(s). What you're listening to is not even a re-recording in this sense. You're listening to another band of six guys, two of whom were in the original group only, doing a cover version of our great old hit."
Yet another re-recording compilation

"This CD get's a one-star rating but that is only because I wan't able to put in a 0-star. Though the tracks are by the original artists there is only 1 track out of 16 that is the original hit. All others are re-recordings albeit by the original artists. If you like re-recordings or elevator music then this is for you but if you actually buy CD's to get the "hits" then please don't make the same mistake I did."
HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT

"If you are like me, and were looking for some original 60's hits, DO NOT buy ANY of these class reunion CD's. It says "original artists", but that doesn't necessarily mean the "original hits" as they sounded at that time. Most of these songs sounded like they were being performed by some cheesy cover bands, and I am just sorry I wasted my money and didn't read other people's reviews first."
