CD Reviews

What a fun CD!

""O Clone (Enhanced)" is the local musical version for the Brazilian novela, "O Clone" (The Clone). The enhanced CD jacket pictures the heroine, Jade, a young Moslem woman in her veil. The inside contains more photos of Jade and the lyrics to the songs. There is also an extra treat on this CD. If you listen to it on your computer, you can see a short video in the original language of Portuguese with the main characters. There are also photos and a summary of the story, as well two site addresses for more information on "O Clone."In Brazil, over 70 million viewers tune in nightly to follow the soap opera story of Jade and Lucas - two star crossed lovers who later encounter a human clone. Yes, a human clone. It sort of sounds silly but the storyline is nicely worked into plot so that the viewer is highly entertained. A clash of cultures and the present-day controversial subject of human cloning make for an interesting novela. Dubbed into Spanish, for American viewers, "O Clone" recently aired in the U.S. to great success. There are a large number of viewers in the United States and the novela is closed captioned in English, as well as Spanish. Brazilian musician, Marcus Viana, the man responsible for many successful Brazilian novela music soundtracks, is the musical director for "O Clone." The soundtrack includes music by Viana, himself, his Transfonica Orkestra, popular Brazilian musicians such as Caetano Veloso, Zizi Possi and Middle Eastern music. If you want to get the feel of fun Brazilian music this is the CD to get (This CD contains mainly Brazilian songs). I like all the songs but some of my favorites are: A Miragem (the theme song for Jade and Lucas); No Balanço do Buzão (a fun piece of music!); Escândalo (sung by one of my favorite Brazilian singers. It is soft and mellow); Alto Lá (theme song for Deusa and Oswaldo); No Escuro; Sob o Sol; and Maktub (Middle Eastern-sounding instrumental piece.)Unlike American soap operas, novelas last between six to eight months. Some may even last a year. After the novela is over, it is nice to have the music soundtrack to repeatedly listen to at your leisure -- especially if you enjoyed the novela.Whether you are a viewer of this Brazilian soap opera or not, you will still want this CD soundtrack in your music collection. It is easy listening and will not disappoint you. Fafa Demasio"
Beautiful songs, wonderful memories

"This soap opera was very beautiful, even my American husband could not stop watching it. This Brazilian soap opera (better, telenovel) was dubbed in Spanish with captions in Spanish and English. Beaultiful scenes, wonderful actors, enchanting story, carefully chosen soundtrack. This is a wonderful CD even for those who didn't have a chance to see this Brazilian soap opera."
O CLONE ENHANCED

"The CD "O Clone enhanced" contains all the tracks in Portuguese. I enjoyed all the tracks and found them to be very enchanting, and melancholic. It was nice to see that track #15 is an interactive page that contains scenes from this popular Brazilian soap opera. I would recommend this to those who are fans of the soap opera, and for those who are not, I am sure you will enjoy it too.
