CD Reviews

A compelling, sometimes sketchy, uptempo set
Richard Diaz | 05/31/2001
(3 out of 5 stars)

"Not quite sure what "Progressive Euphoria" is supposed to indicate, but Big Room Trance fits aptly. A bit faster, a smidge fuller, and a tad fluffier elements all rolled into a tight album sounding better the louder you crank it. Songs dip to ambience before rising up one more time (Junk Project `Composure') or contain feel-good voices packing positive attitude (Cass & Slide `Perception'). All mixed in with some old classics (Sasha's `Belfunk') and modern favorites (Lostit.com's aggressive squelcher `Animal').That's not a slag by any means, as PE spools out a club night on plastic. It certainly helps that the darker, energetic tone drowns some of the cornier moments like the foreboding dialogue of `Four Horsemen,' and the surprisingly cheese vocal of top producer Sander Kleinenberg's `Venus and Mars'. On the plus side, Moogwai's fueled version of `Love you some more' is a peak time breathtaker, ditto Andy Moor's take on `My Release.' Finally, PE contains two exclusive tracks gathering some attention, The Cardigan's `My Favorite Game' Rollo mix, and Faithless `God is a DJ' Astral Projection Mix. Both are well done if lacking that special something to put them over the top.Bottom Line, John Flemming whips up a compelling uptempo set to stir you into action, with 2-3 tracks per disc a bit iffy at times."
The best Euphoria CD yet !!
Jeffrey Jennings | Savannah, GA United States | 11/27/2001

"Over the last year I have acquired quite a large collection of Euphoria and Platipus CDs. Most are very nice mixes of various artists and their remixes of wonderful music. Nothing could have prepared me for what I found on this CD. It is the only Euphoria CD that truly has a magical and instant affect on people I play it for. They without exception have asked where to buy it. The first song on disc one, Silence is the best on a CD of bests ! The transitions between songs is the most natural and clean I have seen since Trance Trippin, another standout in an active arena of the most interesting and important music of the new century.
If you love video gaming and driving automobiles, I can not think of any better music to do it to. It just seems to blend with these activities naturally. It also has a very positive emotional effect on listeners who enjoy trance music, it makes my frinds smile and everyone moves with the beat. No other CD has such a profound effect on such a large audience. If you buy only one of the Euphoria CDs, as an owner of all of them, I give my highest marks to Progressive Euphoria."
Progressive Trance at it's finest.....
Christian J. Merchant | South Hadley, MA United States | 05/13/2001

"Progressive trance is the one type of trance I could listen to all the time....and this cd will be in my car constantly for at least 6 months. John '00' Fleming does an amazing job seamlessly mixing 15 amazing tracks on each disc. This stuff is like drawn out, mellowed out trance....but not chilled trance....it's still got the rhythmic beats you'd expect, but the moods and atmosphere it creates are like no other trance cd I own. Disc one starts out perfectly with Delerium's "Silence" and that amazing voice of Sarah McLachlan. It just gets better and better. Disc two is amazing with Sasha's "Belfunk", Three Drives' "Sunset On Ibiza" and finishing off beautifully with Tilt's "I Dream". What an amazing set. John '00' Fleming.....I'll be looking for more from you in the future....and to Euphoria....keep it up, this stuff is unmatched by any trance compilation I own."
