CD Reviews

Acoustic versions - kind of a period piece now, innit?

"I like this album, but then again, I like this sort of thing. The top keeper on this disc is the Black Crowes' track... the dominant acoustic accompaniment is a PIANO, not an acoustic guitar (though the guitar is in there). Nice to hear it this way, and I love the studio version.

Queen's tune is also good, as is Greg Lake's and Eddie Money's."
Gotta Love... KOME - The Radio !!!

"This is a Sampler of 16 Acoustic Tracks by Various Bands/Artists, with all the profits going to the SF AIDS Foundation. From Queen to The Allman Brothers, MSG to Nils Lofgren, Tom Cochrane to Jethro Tull, a lot of ground is covered on this Unique Disc.

Freddie Mercury's, Rendition of: "Is This The World We Created", features only the backing of Brian May's Guitar, and it is an Emotional Experience. This is One of Queen's most Regal Moments. The Allman Brothers, give us a Wonderful: "Melissa" that features some Firey Acoustic Guitars, Another Big Winner. Greg Lake, does not fare so well on his Live-In--The-Studio, Version of the ELP Classic: "From The Beginning", Maybe it was too many Smokes, or it was just too early in the Morning, but Greg's voice is in really bad shape here, and that's bad for us.

For me the Highlight of the CD is the Amazing rendition of: "Keith Don't Go", performed by Nils Lofgren. Nils sings this One like a Man on a Mission, and this track features some of the Most Outstanding Acoustic Guitar, on any CD out there...Period. If this was the ONLY track on this Disc, I would have still thrown down my Money, It is Fantastic...You gotta hear this one!

"Red Gumbo" by Little Feat, is a Cool Cajun Lovefest. Tom Cochrane, weighs in Heavy with: "Lunatic Fringe" that is just as powerful as the Electric Versions of this Classic. Another Great Find is Pat Dinizio's: "Blood & Roses", that is just another Fantasic Track, Wonderful Stirring Vocals and Bright Acoustic Guitars, it's Haunting, and Brilliant.

Old Timers Roger McQuinn & Justin Hayward, show their Strengths armed only with their Guitars & Voices on: "Turn, Turn, Turn" {Byrds} and "Tuesday Afternoon" {Moody Blues}.

Again, there is a very vast range of Artists and Styles over the Course of these 16 Tracks. There is no way you are gonna love every single selection on: "Acoustic Aid". But, for what you are gonna find, this CD is well worth it's purchase price.

This is a Fine CD...FOUR STARS !!!"
