Synopsis

Such is the clout of Dave Matthews that even the most minor of his Charlottesville, Virginia, brethren are lifted to prominence. Witness the left-field success of Tim Reynolds, a frequent DMB live supporter and a fellow folkie who shared the stage with Matthews on the recording of Live at Luther College. Despite the obvious connections, Reynolds gingerly sidesteps DMB's lilting acoustic rock on Chaos View, instead favoring intricate electronic effects and lyrics steeped in politics and post-millennial uncertainty. His sonic experiments work best on tracks like "Radar Contact" and "Skeleton Walls"--angular, ethereal songs that are refreshingly free of corporate focus-pocus. --Aidin Vaziri

CD Reviews

It's not dave matthew's clout

(5 out of 5 stars)

"I think the editor is mistaken in saying that the reason Tim Reynolds has a CD out is because of Dave Matthews clout. Tim Reynolds is a brilliant guitarist amongst the best there have ever been in my opinion. This man deserves to be out in the spotlight for his skill not because of someone's 'clout.' YOu should research things before posting a review that makes this man sound as if he has no skill."
Tim is electric

(4 out of 5 stars)

"I bought this cd expecting an acoustic tim reynolds like dmb and tim at luther, etc. wow was i surprised. he is electric. with a bevy of electronic loops including bass, drums and organ he is unlike anything that he has recorded thusfar. it's entirely live. the guy who reviewed the cd that said it's mostly acoustic obviosly never heard it. tim sounds like jeff beck, hendrix, or stevie ray vaughn at times. i believe that he could have varied things a bit more but it's worth more than one listen. he is quite the guitarist. 4 stars"
