CD Reviews

A MUST-HAVE in any blues-lover's collection
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I was hooked on these women the first time I heard "One Good Man", an anthem for all of us playing the field but looking for Mr (or Ms) Right. This is my favorite CD by the Saffire: the Uppity Blues Women. Their tunes range from rowdy, tender, funny, serious, fast, slow (sometimes within the same tune -- "Torch Song #1/Torch Song #2") and are ALWAYS great and heartfelt... and sometimes slightly raunchy. But of course these ladies wouldn't be UPPITY without a little tounge-in-cheek, "jelly-roll" blues!! You are sure to find a tune for every mood - and lover, "ex" or current - you have! These ladies hold NOTHING back in playing or or writing their tunes! Once you taste the music and humor of these fabulous blueswomen, you'll be back for more!!"
Another Jewel In The Blues Crown
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album serves up a funky dish of eclectic blues from slow to fast and in between. I don't think I can pick out a favorite, as all of the cuts are fantastic. "Tom Cat Blues" written by Anne Rabson is one of the ones I listen to twice sometimes but then that is true of the entire album. These ladies sign, seal and deliver, with a bang, old blues standards and new stuff that makes any blues fan want to move their feet. Ann's piano, Gaye's Guitar and harmonica and Andrea's various instruments along with their voices produce a heavenly boogie that turns the blues into something to shout about."

"Wow! These girls are just the thing to drive away the blues. The original numbers have the most amazing lyrics, that never fail to cheer me up! Check them out if you like blues with sassy lyrics."
