The Pretty In Pink Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Various Artists is a pretty good cross section of 1980's New Wave.

With one exception, not sure why they had the Danny Hutton Hitters
perform "Wouldn't It Be Good" ?

It comes across like an American Idol reject.

Instead of the stellar original Nik Kershaw version.
Licensing issues ? Budget? Maybe Hutton was a friend or neighbor to the A&M records talent scout ?
