"When we finally got hooked onto the world wide web recently, the first name I typed into our search engine was Melanie. To find a new album was thrilling, but when I clicked on Amazon audio and heard The Voice, I teared up.
In Crazy Love, Melanie's voice is as captivating as ever; with her son Beau Jared Schekeryk's guitar, voice and guitar are oiled wood on oiled wood. Of the new songs--And We Fall, This House, Prone to Wander, Come Away Come Go--stand out although they're all well crafted and refreshingly original. I wonder if the fact that Melanie chose to lead a relatively normal life has given her a rich palette to draw her ideas from? I questioned the inclusion of Brand New Key, but my two girls, aged 7 and 3, dance around the kitchen to it every time I play it. It makes sense, I got hooked on Melanie when I was a little girl too. Melanie's songwriting appeals to young ones because she draws from the everyday occurences: "you find your lost keys where you looked before," "She said yes, but you weren't alone."
Reading the liner notes about Brand New Key made me laugh. Rickie Lee Jones has her Chuck E's in Love, Melanie has her Brand New Key. They're both great songs, catchy and clever. I hope there are more albums in the works. With the internet, we all have access to great talents who aren't commercially as available as they should be."

MELANIE LOVES LIKE CRAZY

"Melanie has been "the poet of the generation" since the days of Woodstock . . . she has remained the "poet conscience" calling us to our "higher selves" ever since.



This album, "Crazy Love" is Melanie with newly written and newly recorded material . . .she says she's been writing like crazy (perhaps the song and the album title) -- her "muse" has never left her . . . the magique is still emanating from her lyric, her melody, her voice, her message.



I will only name three of this album's songs: "Smile" -- Mealnie sings, "I love people who smile . . . if everybody smiles we'll have a hometown all over the world." :)



"You can Find Anything Here" -- a lighthearted tripping romp through the world as Melanie sees it! it'll make you smile . . and you'll be part of Melanie's hometown too. :)



My favorite track on the album . . a message relevant for today (with so many away from homes and family) but meaningful in any and every age and place in this world where people are separated from each other and/or from their home: "Till They All Get Home" -- Melanie reminds us that "we're all in this togteher . . so say a little prayer 'till they all get home." -- this song can bring a few tears to your eyes as you think of so many who may never get back home . . . or who never made it back home -- from anywhere.



Melanie, thank you for all the years (decades) of magical music . . . your message has always remained the same . . . Woodstoock isn't just a place and time . . .it's a state of soul . . . a state of mind . . . a state of the heart. --- and Melanie has a lot of heart! :)"

""Look What They Done To My Song, Ma" still makes me teary-eyed and when someone told me Melanie has come out with CRAZY LOVE, I looked ALL OVER and AT LONG LAST found it in Germany, with an extra song! Melanie is as crazy and wonderful as ever! Keep it up, Melanie, keep rolling on those skates and remember: YOU ALONE HAVE THE KEY!"
