CD Reviews

Jook! Wow!
SCOTTY | CHICAGO | 07/04/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"THIS MUST SURELY HAVE BEEN THE CROSSOVER BETWEEN THE WHO,AND WHAT FOLLOWED. THIS IS BRIT ROCK AT ITS BEST. SEMINAL IS A MUCH ABUSED TERM THESE DAYS, BUT IT APPLIES HERE! JOHNNY ROTTEN? LEARN FROM THIS!"
Criminally Overlooked Band
C. Paulson | 08/20/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Criminally overlooked glam-era UK rockers that are one of the missing links between British Invasion/60's Garage and the Punk/New Wave to come. Songs move from raw Who inspired rockers to elements of The Raspberries on "Everything I Do" and "Aggrivation Place" reminds me of The Clash. Recordings span from 1972-76 with a few demos from '78. Excellent liner notes with photos and full track info. I found Jook on the Glitterbest compilation and went from there."
Classic Yob Rock
Todd Zimmer | United States | 08/22/2008
(4 out of 5 stars)

"The Jook are kind of legendary proto punk glam. They fall between the cracks as a few of the tracks on this career spanning collection do.

The great songs are amazing that get you totally psyched and ready for anything, the not so great are like a limp wrist handshake.

The good outweigh the bad though by at least 5 to 1.

Oh, and if any one from RPM records is reading this, this needs to be pressed on vinyl.

Thanks!"
