It's not that bad
(4 out of 5 stars)
"Of all the JCS recordings I've heard, this one is probably the most uniformly satisfying. The Original Concept has a whiny Jesus and a laryngitic Judas; the movie soundtrack has an awesome Jesus and Pilate, but a bad everything else; the new cast recording has an awesome Mary, but a screechy Jesus and Judas. In this one, there is not one bad singer in the bunch. While Dave Willets does snarl a lot, I think his angry take on the role is quite interesting. Clive Rowe has a great voice as Judas, but becomes very unintelligible on higher notes, which makes him sound a little ridiculous. Issy Van Randwyck and Ethan Freeman are the real stars here, though. Ethan Freeman is, by far, the best Pilate I've heard, and Issy Van Randwyck really steeps herself into the part. This recording is not as bad as everyone says it is. However, it migh not be your cup of tea. But listen to the samples here, and you might like what you find."

"He also played Jesus of Nazareth in the touring version that featured Keith Burns as Judas & Sarah Brightman as Mary Magdalene. I was delighted to see this recording on tape given to me."
This is not a good thing...
