Synopsis

Album Description
The Legendary Soul Singer?s Greatest Hits Live One of the last great soul singers still standing, Howard Tate disappeared, literally, after a run of R&B hits in the late ?60s. Now, more than 30 years later, he?s back with Live, the culmination of his entire career. His only concert album, Live captures Tate bringing his classic old-school soul intensity to currently out-of-print R&B and Pop chart hits such as "Get It While You Can" (covered by Janis Joplin), "Stop" (covered by Jimi Hendrix), "Ain?t Nobody Home" (covered by B.B. King) and "Look At Granny Run, Run" (covered by Ry Cooder). In addition to his classic ?60s recordings, Tate also includes a number of gems from his ?70s albums, as well as his 2003 comeback album, Rediscovered. The result is a testament to an influential and still-vital soul master.

CD Reviews

Essential for Howard Tate fans
John Davis | Montreal | 08/21/2006
(3 out of 5 stars)

"What can I say- This is more Howard Tate! He is still in good form and the songs are played very close to the original versions he recorded. The band is decent and there are no consessions made to modernize his sound. I Love This Guy! One of the best voices in all of soul music. My all time favorite male vocalist! If You like other Howard Tate records this will not dissapoint."
Best falsetto around
Luca Lupoli | Switzerland | 03/11/2007
(4 out of 5 stars)

"It's a blessing to have Howard Tate with us again. Since his comeback a few years ago, he has been driving world audiences crazy. Tate - a top soul singer - can offer the entire package: tone, control, power and awesome falsetto. Just one remark, songs are too short; such an artist needs to be left free to stretch. No matter where he will go, fine with us. At the ivories, one of the best around today: Austin DeLone."
