CD Reviews

Wishing on a Star is one the most beautiful songs ever done
Dancin Boy | 08/28/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"One of the most talented groups of the 80's. Strong Vocals on par with Whitney and Mariah."
The Covergirls Change With The Times
Dancin Boy | New York City | 06/01/2005
(4 out of 5 stars)

"This album bought a major change for the group The Covergirls. Now on Epic records and now featuring Co lead singers Evelyn Escalera and Michelle Valentine. A powerhouse vocalist was bought in to replace Angel( latin Diana Ross) Clivilles alledgedly to compete with the then huge group Seduction. Valentine adds soul and a strong vocal to the Covergirls sound on this album. Songs like Always, Gotta get Up and Wishing On A star showcase Valentines diva vocal tricks. Thank You a single was definitely a 90's ballad giving Expose's ballads a run for their money. Escalera sings Funk Boutique as well as Still Miss You which is really the only freestyle song on this cd and should have been showcased being produced by Frankie Cutlass of And More and Lisette Melendez fame showing what a big vocalist can do with a freestyle track behind her ( Evelen is a Siren)

If You Want My Love ( with K7),That Feeling,Its You and Colors round out this Covergirls effort a transitional album to say the least. The Different textured beats will keep your fingers snapping. The Vocals will not disapoint, but why have we not heard more from Escelera or Valentine, and Caroline the true remaining original " Cover" of the Covergirls? This Cd was a very good effort."
SUGGESTED LISTEN
twentyfour | Chicago, IL USA | 09/04/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Michelle Valentine was the best thing to happen to the Cover Girls. Her strong vocals and the ability to handle a song and make it all hers (as well as Evelyn Escalera) is amazing. Angel (former lead singer)leaving the group was the best thing that happened since Angel got the credit for the groups chart successes. Her nasily voice was a turn off! This was the best Cover Girls album with Funk Boutique, Thank You and Wishing on A Star being their strongest tracks. Unfortunately, this CD and the follow up didn't take the group to new heights like it should have, worth a listen or didn't propel the career of Michelle Valentine.

A suggested listen also is their follow up "SATISFY" CD, you'll hear a lot of Michelle Valentine's vocal."
