AHHH, Delightful...Gift Yourself With This CD!!!

"I know, I know, I am a huge supporter of Colette's work, but with good reason - she is wonderful. This CD is just amazing (I am tired of that word, but am at a loss for a better one). Her voice is so clear and pure...it just lifts my heart to hear her sing. Singing is not one of the gifts I got this time around...in my next life I am going to have to remember to ask to be able to sing beautifully.

Each of the songs have a crystal beauty of their own that makes them unique and haunting. They will stay with you and you will catch yourself playing the Cds over and over again. I have left Colette's CDs in my car palyer and my husband is always taking my car so he can listen to her!

Grab this CD and enjoy..."
TOP music for meditation and relaxation

"I have MANY meditation CDs. In my collection, I have to say this has to be one of my very favorites.

I'm not as much a big fan of Disc 1 as 2- I bought the CD for disc 2 because I wanted her meditation music, though her voice is beautiful (I just wasn't interested in a singing CD). However, you should know this review is primarily aimed at DISC 2.

I think meditation CDs, or just relaxation music in general, is very personal. Certain tones, instruments, and melodies just resonate better with some people than with others.

For example, I HATE guitars or string instruments in music that I try to meditate, relax, and especially sleep to, because its distracting and the "panging" nature just keeps making my mind jump every time I try to slip into deeper states.

Collete Baron Reid is VERY talented at creating music that is just perfect.

Track one of disc 2, has OCEAN WAVES, with touches of CHIMES that gently tingle in the background, with a FLUTE that sings deep tones. These are my FAVORITE sounds for relaxation, and I think you will appreciate it as well. Not only that, Collette's BEUATIFUL voice, gently hums in and out at certain points, lulling you out of tension and restless thinking.

To TOP IT OFF, in the beginning, she has you start with visualizing yourself on a beach with white sand, and has you focus on your breathing- ESSENTIAL for relaxation and meditation (in INDIA, they say your breathing is directly related to your thoughts, and visualization is also important and very effective as well). And she only does this for about 2 minutes, VERY brief, so its not annoying and you get straight to the tranquil music. Her voice in the beginning echoes, and is incredibly soothing. She pauses in just the right places. She's really present with the music- serious about helping you relax. She's not this medical professional who tries to talk you into relaxation *rolls eyes.* Its AWESOME, because she just sounds appealing and confident. Her voice is powerful and provokes a certain mood from you.

I wish she would narrate ALL of my guided meditations. She's perfect.

She just KNOWS how to make an excellent, quality meditation CD. I wish she would produce more. This is one of the ONLY CD's I have come across, of the MANY I have heard, that really sounds professional and serious about meditation:

In a lot of programs, the music is too cheesy...or too spacey...or too creepy...or too depressing...or has distracting noises or instruments...or it's too repetitive and uninteresting, or the music sounds cheap...or the voice in the background runs on too long when you are trying to relax....or the voice is annoying or doesn't fit with the mood and is distracting... (call me picky).

Collette NAILS it.

Its just really unfortunate that not a lot of people have come across this CD, its a wonderful work of art and really brings you great peace- a unique tranquility that is hard to find.

AND.....you don't have to be a New Age junkie or a metaphysical nut to buy her music (which I kinda am in some ways, though not as seriously as others- like the person below me- but I'm making the point that you don't have to be.).

I think you will enjoy it!
