CD Reviews

A good if not great followup to "Parte De La Religion"
Aparato SuperSonico | Orlando, FL | 07/14/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This album came out in 1989, about 2 years after his triumphant "Parte De La Religion". There's a couple of tracks Garcia followers might recognize from a release from the previous year, notably "Zoca Cola" which is a rework of "Anonimo Musical", and "No Me Veras En EL Subte", revived from "Obertura titulos y presentacion", both tracks are from the soundtrack album from "Lo Que Vendra" (1988). The rest of the album consists of "assorted discarded tracks from previous CDs";a sort of the Stones' "Emotional rescue", which nevertheless manages to end up a highly enjoyable album in itself. The beauty of this CD is that if played today, it does not sound dated, in spite of the heavy keyboard presence throughout the recording. Still one criticism must be made, and this involves all of Garcia's albums: He would greatly benefit from having better recording equipment and sound engineers for his albums. It's hard to justify muddy or tinny sound from his albums as if they were made in a backwater studio in some flea ridden northern province of Argentina. After 1982 Garcia has repeatedly recorded abroad, in new York and Rio. Somehow, someone should approach him and tell him the sound queality of his CDs are not up to par with his contemporaries. Garcia, being what he is, an overrated artist, will probably ignore the advice and have the messenger of bad news massacred by his zombie fans in Buenos Aires. Recommendation: Buy this CD!"
Brilliant Album

"From one of the most influential Latin Rock artists comes this masterpiece.
Although not very well known like some of his other albums, "Chicas" blends some traditional rock ballads like the catchy "Ella es bailarina" with more ellaborate melancholy songs like "No me veras en el subte". Together, these songs combine to make a masterpiece of an album from a Latin Rock legend."
