MACHINES GO FAST - MACHINES GO SLOW .....
machinethinkman | Texas | 08/15/2004
(4 out of 5 stars)

"I've heard the music on this disc descibed in sources elsewhere as Industrial. While it does incorporate elements of that genre, this is NOT the Industrial music of my youth i.e. Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Thrill Kill Cult, Einstürzende Neubauten and early NIN. Released in 1994 it has a more hard techno feel to it - The first track, Subhuman - with screams provided by Mick Harris, is as close as this disc gets to the Industrial label.

Along with Harris, there are other artists who contribute to the sound as well but as the liner notes state - "Conceived and Constructed by Bill Laswell" - This is by and large a solo Bill Laswell project.

What I like best about the sound of this disc is the continuous fast and slow change of pace gear shifting that prevades the whole set to create a nice tension that kept my interest for the entire duration of the flight. The run time of just under 45 minutes is perfect."
