"Oh man this drummer is the best. I can't believe what he does. You have to check this guy out, i mean now. The rest of the band is hardcore death, pretty much in the suffocation/deicide vein. Absolutely great death metal. I was shocked when I heard this drummer on this album. All death metal fans need to hear this drummer, forget all other drummers no one is as good as this guy, no one. Masterly."
A great prog/tech Death Metal album with some of the greates

"Before his famous appearance in Death's 1998 "Sounds of Perserverance", drummer Richard Christy was part of Florida's "Burning Inside". In 1995 the band had released a demo but plans were put on hold for Burning Inside while Christy performed drumming duties for other bands.

Burning Inside is primarily a drummer driven band as evidenced by Christy's sometimes overbearing presence in the music. You could take it two ways. It is either because: 1)Christy couldn't control himself and needed control over all aspects of the music; or 2)Christy was such a good musician he overshadowed these lesser musician's respective talents. I'm going to say from listening many times that the second is probably the correct answer. The music has elements of Atheist, Death, Suffocation, Monstrosity and Deicide in it but firmly stands on it's own. It doesn't sound like a rip-off band like too many Death Metal bands do trying to steal pages from the Suffocation playbook and act like they came upon the music by revelation.

Typical DM vocals, unremarkable bass, and the occasional catchy riff and hook here and there with some good soloing...but this is primarily an album about Richard Christy's drumming. The CD is basically a drum clinic with some metal music playing in the background. (As a drummer I can certainly appreciate the highlighting of my instrument.) For this reason it sticks out like a red flag around so many indiscernable DM albums at the turn of the century. Recommended to fans of Chuck Schuldiner's Death and any other DM listener with an open mind."
