The New Wave Of Death Metal Has Begun
Twitch | Atlanta, GA | 03/30/2003
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Burning Inside's sophomore release 'Apparition' is a breath of fresh air in the death metal scene. After hitting hard with their debut, 'The Eve of the Entities', one would expect a band to slow down quite a bit, but not Burning Inside, they are definitely here to stay. This quartet shows that they are really what the death metal world is about - ferocity, brutality, and aggression. But 'Apparition' goes far beyond their debut. The seemingly progressive influences mixed with their death assault suits the band well. Their sound can be described as Ripping Corpse meets early In Flames with their incredibly technical playing - some of the best I've heard - and their brutally melodic sound. Jamie Prim (bass/vocals) is at the top of his game on this record. His voice is very unique and makes the record seem more alive and his lyrics are not gore filled infested but still very disturbing in the mental sense. Richard Christy is just as good as he normally is - which is flat out astounding - and is still up there for one of the best drummers in metal today (along with Joey Jordison, Kevin Talley, and te Sandoval). Stand out tracks are "Subject to Threat", "Gates of Hell", and (my personal favorite) "Resurrection and Revenge". 'Apparition' is an album for anyone who is looking for some original and devastating death metal record. Burning Inside is definitely one of the next big bands in death metal."
