Synopsis

Album Description
The soundtrack to one of Latin America's biggest films of last year. It follows the success of other influential films/soundtracks that have defined the new wave of Latin American cinema, such as "Amores Perros" and "Y Tu Mama Tambien". Highlights include Tanghetto's new "electro tango" version of the seminal New Order favorite "Blue Monday", and a re-working of the La Ley classic track, "Mentira" by Beto Cuevas, the vocalist from multi-Grammy winning artist La Ley, who also appears in the film.

(4 out of 5 stars)

"Though labeled a "soundtrack" (because it is, in fact, music from a film) this serves as an excellent introduction and overview to the contemporary latin, especially Mexican, electronica scene. Highlights include the Gotan-esque tango of Tanghetto's "Blue Monday" (yes, the New Order classic as interpreted by jazzy bandoleon players), the suave hip-hoppish "Don't Let Go" by Pacha, and tracks by Bitman and Roban, The Pinker Tones, and Nortec Collective. Highly recommended for that margarita or mojito-spashed summer party you're getting ready to throw or attend."
