Help Center - If you can't find a CD by searching on SwapaCD...

Search Terms:

If you can't find a CD in the SwapaCD database:

  • Check your search terms
    • misspellings/typos are the most common reason why a search does not find a CD
    • It is possible that you are doing a genre search but the CD is not listed with that genre
    • If this is a CD you posted to your Tower, check the listing on your Tower:
      • check the title/artist spelling
      • check the genre/subgenres the CD is listed with in the database
  • Try a UPC search if you know the UPC
    • you can look for a UPC for the CD you want in another Internet archive by using Google or another search engine
  • If the UPC or CD search gives you the message that the UPC/CD is not known to the SwapaCD database:
    • This means that SwapaCD doesn't have any information for that UPC
    • The SwapaCD database is huge, but it doesn't have every CD ever recorded
    • The SwapaCD database is updated on a regular basis, and CDs are added all the time.
    • If a UPC is unknown to the SwapaCD database:
      • A CD cannot be posted using that UPC (it needs to be posted by title/artist)
    • If a CD is unknown to the SwapaCD database:
      • it cannot be ordered or posted or Wish Listed
    • Although you cannot Wish List an item that is not known to the database, you can use Saved Searches to check the database periodically to see if the item has been added.
      • To do this, click on your search result to save your Search terms, and repeat the search from time to time to see if the CD was added.
