Is it possible to buy credits and CD money at the same time, hopefully thereby avoiding the double fee?

Try this.

Place the number of credits you want in the box and click "Add to Cart". This will take you to your cart. Don't check out. Instead click "Continue Shopping". Add the amount of CD Money you need and add that to your cart. Now when veiwing your cart you will only see the one transaction fee.

Yes, Dennis is correct and we highly encourage members to do it this way. We also encourage you to purchase as much as you know you will use, to cut down on the number of transactions you make in the Kiosk. For example, if you are very confident you will be requesting 10 CDs from our site, purchase $4.90 all at once, not just enough to pay for the one CD you are currently wanting to request.
