CD Reviews

Delictable!!!

"This cd is really, really great. I am a clarinetist, and I know of most of the works by Mozart for clarinet but until I had bought this disk, I had never heard of his Divertimentos for 2 clarinets and bassoon. Well, when I got this cd, I started to search for the sheetmusic for these wonderful pieces and found them. Anyway, this cd is just amazing. Takashima, Okazaki, and Berkes shine!! The recording is clear appearantly the music is well prepared. They must have spent a lot of time preparing for this recoring because these are not easy pieces. Dont let the price fool you. This cd could hold its own among all of those expensive recordings. So, all in all, this is a superb recording at an even better price!!!"
Excellent Mozart! Excellent Performances!

"These five Divertimentos in B-flat Major were originally composed for 3 Bassett horns. Here, they are performed froma transcription for 2 clarinets and a bassoon. Clarinets: Kalman Berkes & Tomoko Takashima. Bassoon: Koji Okasaki. Recorded 18-21 August 1995, Budapest, in the Unitarian Church.

Other than the Prague Trio of Basset Horns, we do not know of any other performers who have recorded these divertimenti with the originally-intended instruments. However, the clarinets & bassoon presentation on this CD is just excellent! It does honor to Mozart with brilliant delivery, and the recording quality is fine. We highly recommend this version of the Mozart K-439b divertimentos."
