FREE LEONARD PELTIER...NOW!
Larry Holmes, Jr. | Vernon, Texas | 09/10/2007
(5 out of 5 stars)

"'If not now, then when; if not us, then whom?' When will justice roll down like the waves of a might water? This CD is a tribute to Leonard Peltier who has been in prison almost 30 years for a crime that the government admits in its own records, "We do not know who shot those agents." The government's own records are evidence of fabrication of evidence, withholding evidence, deliberate perjury and other felonies on the part of the FBI and U.S. prosecutors.

Scooter Libby gets a pardon and Peltier does not! An outrage"

"I know 2 different music CD albums by this title, but I can't see the label " Red Feather " on any of the two, as the one listed here seems to be ... so if anybody around here could enlighten us about a third CD with this title, I'd be very interested !

Here are bits of info about the 2 I know...

Of course, they both refer to Leonard Peltier, the famous US political prisonner, who's spent the last 30+ years in prison and is still there, and about whom a book also by the title " In the spirit od Crazy Horse" was written.

The first CD by this title is by various artists who have contributed their songs for this cause ( 1992 ).

TRACK LIST of this CD:

1. Please Sign here ~ Joanne Shenandoah ( a different version from the known one);

2. Eagle Horse ~ Mitch Walking Elk

3. Dakota Wind ~ Ellen Klaver

4. Pray for the people ~ Carolyn M Brittell

5. Anna Mae ~ Larry Long

6. Not for sale ~ Alice Di Micele

7. Stolen land ~ Bruce Cockburn

8. You're a brave one ~ Joanne Shenandoah

9. Song for Leonard Peltier ~ Jim Page

10. A crime that isn't mine ~ Julie Robbins

11. Blow Dakota blow ~ Jim Page

12. Patriot ~ City Folk

13. Bury my heart in Wounded Knee ~ Buffy Sainte-Marie

14. Leonard Peltier : IN HIS OWN WORDS

The insert includes art by Leonard Peltire himself, a photo of him & notes about him, a poem, a card to send the President of the US ...

The second CD by this title is by Longacre Indian Head Penny Band / Clayton Longacre ( 1997 )

TRACK LIST for that CD:

1. Too late, too late, to right the wrong

2. Talk to the sky

- Set Leonard Peltier free

3. Our Crazy Horse

4. The Indian gives, The government breaks

( Despite having only 4 tracks, it is not an EP or single, but rather a full-length album, if rather short, as most tracks are quite long ).

This one is possibly my favourite, as it has more originality than the above more folkey one. It has perhaps some folkey notes too, but the voice is quite unique and fresh; it is also gentle and easy on the ear. I also find the music itself has much more Native American sound & elements in it, for example including traditional native instruments as well as modern, and bits of traditional Native chorussing / chanting in the background ( all in great harmony!) ...

All the lyrics are included in the 8-page leaflet, which also has lengthy notes & a close-up photo of the main artist.

Inform Obama: Leonard must be pardoned
Stefan White | Austria | 12/28/2008
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I can't write an unbiased review because I produced the original version of this album. But now is the time to inform and encourage Obama to pardon Leonard at the end of his presidency. In the light of the FBI pressure and influence and possible/probable retaliation/intimidation it will take a huge amount of courage and integrity to set Leonard free in 4 or 8 years.

Let us give our new President the information and support that he needs to take this step so necessary for the credibility and conscience of this land."
