CD Reviews

Strange CD Cover; Unique Music

First of all the CD cover is hilarious! The girl on the cover appears to be having a good time dancing throughout the cover. If you notice a little closer though it appears that she had a little accident, but is nonchallant of that fact. The poster in the CD with the rest of the family portrait; obviously they didn't make it to the restroom in time either. Weird...yet funny..... As for the two CD's.

The first one "Sonar by Day" I like more than "Sonar by Night" It begans with a nice Loungy/Bossa song with the simple vocals on "Pabadam." The 3rd song "Eyen" by Plaid, has a spooky mystic dark sound to it. "Fedimes Flight" is one of best songs on here; very upbeat and catchy, wich is the main reason I brought the CD. "Carajillo" by Truby Trio is pretty good.

Lemon Jelly's "a tune for jack" is an unusual song. It starts of with an explorer in South America looking for a Sea Elephant, followed by a mellow and happy tune; the voice of a little 2 or 3 year old kid saying, "Ew Baby" - and some other words that I can't interperet, but sounds cute and innocent throughout the song, though it is said repeatedly. And the beautiful upbeat piano of the song, although the song doesn't make sense, adds greatly to the songs happy feel. "Staralfur" is such a beautiful song, regardless if you understand the language being spoken or not, it gives a mixture of beauty and sadness through it. As for the second CD --

If you like electronica you will like the second CD, (Sonar by Night) because it is 80-85% just that, unlike the first, which does have a little electronica. Its all right, but it would be a let down for me purchasing this CD if it was not for the first CD in this set, (Sonar by Day) Aside from "Fedimes Flight" I took a blind chance at buying this.....I would give it 3.5 stars because of the price, but the cover bumped the star rating up some. For the most part I am satisfied with it.

If you like Sonar by Day you might also like: Cafe del Mar Ibiza Volumen dos/Various Artist, and Hotel Costes Series Vol. 1 and 6.

If you like Sonar by Night you might try: Compost One Hundred/Various Artist, and Peace Orchestra Reset/Various Artist."
