Synopsis

Album Description
2008 compilation of classics that inspired the true architects of Southern Rock: The Allman Brothers. After the British Blues boom had drifted off into the realms of Psychedelia, a group of home-grown American musicians merged Blues, Country and Jazz into what was to become Southern Rock. This collection brings together the many influences that made The Allman Brothers the toughest, Blues outfit of their generation. 24 tracks including cuts from Howlin' Wolf, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Willie McTell, B.B. King and many others. Complete Blues.

CD Reviews

Good although not perfect
K. Cooper | Phila. area | 02/02/2009
(4 out of 5 stars)

"About half of this Cd is songs covered by the Allman Brothers and its members and you can't go wrong with any of those cuts. There are some big songs done by the band not here ( suzh as One Way Out, You Don't Love Me). The other half of the Cd is songs that the compilers say have "inspired" the band. One could in theory say hundreds of songs, maybe thousands of songs have inspired the band and its members so this is a very subjective list.

Still there's a lot of good music here with direct and indirect links and ties with the Allman Brothers Band. Serious fans of the band should check this out- I'd put it in the 4 to 4.5 star area."
