"For some reason I have bought lately a bunch of cds of what some call "esoteric" music. A mood thing I suppose. Om Lounge, Hi fidelity lounge, The amalgamation of soundz, Cafe del mar, and even Hotel Costes are my other purchases. I haven't got Buddah Bar so I won't talk about that, but I must say that of all the cds I have mentioned, this one is the best. By far.The tempo is fine, the balance between purely instrumental tracks and sung ones is also perfect, and you say to yourself at the ned of the record "That's it ?". No need to say that the repeat button has been hit consistently with this one (in my car and in my house). This cd is good to play when you have guests over, but could also be heard on the beach or in good clubs of cities such as N.Y., San Francisco, London or Paris. Especially spectacular are "Miss Loneliness" (the percussion here is amazing), "Outro lugar" (An upbeat version in Brazilian of Stevie Wonder's "Another star"), "Vai minha tristeza", and "Plein Soleil" (performed in French by a Japanese), which remembers me of "Fade to grey" by Visage (remember that one ?). In fact, I'm sure Jean Paul Maulnick (Incognito) must like this cd.Prepare a Daiquiri or a Caipirinha and enjoy 14 tracks and over 74 minutes of great music (even my Father likes it, hehehe).You will feel you spent your money wisely..."

Now, it is a blend of many sounds from different cultures, adding to it's potential.Bossa Tres...Jazz, when Japan Meets Europe is a 2 CD compilation featuring Japanese artists playing Brazilian style fusion jazz. Francois K of Body & Soul fame, and Chris "The French" Kiss from Yellow Productions fame heard Bossa Tres and decided to release Bossa Mundo. Bossa Mundo is a 1 CD compilation of the best of Bossa Tres...Jazz, with some new remixes by At Jazz, Waiwan, Francois K & Eric Krupper, MAW, and MKL.All the tracks on here are solid. The compilation blends in an ambient house feel with the Brazilian jazz to create a smooth listening experience that is mellow yet dancey. It opens with a beautiful track by Charm, which makes a reappearance remixed by MKL.  It sets the mood and the pace that you should expect from this CD. The compilation reaches it's potential with tracks like Jazzanova's "Tres Bien", with a soulful piano solo. Other highlights on this compilation include Kyoto Jazz Massive's "Nacer Do Sol", Tom & Joyce's smooth house track, "Val Minha Tristeza", and Modaji's "Aracaju", in which the song transforms effortlessly from one mood to another. Throw in the classic Salome De Bahia's "Outra Lugar" and sit back and relax. There's not a bad track on this 14-track compilation. Completely enjoyable for home listening or mixing in clubs, capturing some really good grooves on the Brazilian side of life.This compilation ranks up there with Sister Bossa as one of my favorite Brazilian jazz compilations. It soothes, stimulates and can get a party moving! The only complaint is that all the tracks, except for one, have been edited.  Which really isn't that much of a downside because you get more tracks! After hearing this compilation, I want to run out and get Bossa Tres...Jazz to hear what I didn't get from the Isle of Japan."

What a wonderful discovery

"A friend of mine lent this album to me today, and I was so impressed by it that I wanted to share with everyone how incredible this CD is. This CD isn't mixed, there's a disclaimer on the back that all the tracks have been "edited" except for one, and the longest track is only six minutes long, but this CD still plays gorgeously. You can tell that each track is special just from the first few seconds. There's a wide range of percussion-based tracks on this CD, some a little more on the minimalistic side, and some that border on full-blown disco. Some songs calm you, some songs can't help but make you get out of your chair and dance. The FK & Eric Kupper mix of Tom & Joyce's classic "Vai Minha Tristeza" is an absolutely *perfect* song. The vocals are clean and inviting, and the disco funk acid jazz overtones just push it over the top. Equally as energetic and groovy is the MAW mix of Yasushi Ide's "Plein Soleil". This song is infectious in ways you can't even understand until you hear its carefully crafted music and sweet vocals blend into a sound that's as close to bliss as you can get. Kyoto Jazz Massive's "Nacer Do Sol" makes me long to chill on the beach watching a perfect sunset. All of the other tracks on the album are excellent, too, and my only complaint is that I wish a lot of these songs were longer... they come to an end just when you feel like you could get lost in them forever. For anyone big on percussion, world house, or just looking for something different from the flood of boring mix CDs on the market, I think you'll find a hidden gem here that strikes the right chord with you."
