CD Reviews

Not as bad as you might think

"First, let's go over what's wrong. This album is supposed to be music inspired by the Powerpuff Girls cartoon, yet about half the songs have nothing to do with the Girls. Instead we are treated to previously released songs that have nothing to do with the PpGs, such as the Vitamin C song and the Mis-Teeq song. Those songs are the kind of stuff 10 to 14 year-old girls listen, and only 10 to 14 year-old girls listen to. Their lyrics have nothing to do with the PpGs or the show. Just read these lyrics from the No Secrets song: "you ask me why I always change the color of my hair/you ask me why I have 32 pairs of shoes to wear". What on Earth does that have to do with a campy show about 5 year-old kindergarten girls who happen to be superheroes? Not every song is like that, but still, you have to wonder if the people who came with the concept of this album just have no respect for the show.As for the good: Over half of the songs were about the show and some were quite good as well. The strangely likable song "Rocket Candy" was a particular standout. There is a punkier version of the show's end theme by Bis. "On Top of Your World", while having not anything to do with the show or it's characters, is fine.So the bottom line is if you are not a female Powerpuff fan who not reached adulthood you may want to skip this. If you do, or if you don't, please check the other 2 Powerpuff Girls albums anyway. They are uniformly better and truly are inspired by the show. "Heroes and Villains" and "The City of Soundsville" are their names."
This CD rocks, but...

"This is actually quite a cute CD and because I'm an Australian Fan I had to order this CD all the way from America. When I first bought it I was worried of what the tracks might have sounded like, but the songs are actually quite cute. Of course though, most of them have nothing to do with our favourite girls at all.The songs that are to do with the show are:Rocket Candy - Cherish
Chemical X - Cherish
Buttercup (I'm a Super Girl) - Shonen Knife
Super Secret City of Soundsville Song - Ursula 100
Powerpunk End Theme - BisOther songs on this CD are good too. Such as 'That's what girls do' - Performed by No secrets. I luv that song. And 'Baby I don't care' - Performed by Jennifer Ellison. That's a good song too. There is one seriously boring song on the CD but I can't remember the title to it, I'd tell you it if I did. Still, this CD would make a great gift for Powerpuff Fans! The artwork on the CD cover and in the booklet alone are outstanding! But when you think about it, this type of music is what the girls would listen too."
POWER POP RULES!!!!

"OMG!!! I flipped when I heard this CD was coming out! The Powerpuff girls first 2 CD were great, but this was PHENOMENAL! It's a mix of sweet pop, sassy R&B & cool rock! Cherish added the R&B to the CD, No Secrets & Vitamin C added the pop & the other artists added the other sounds. I love the CD to death, but you will be shocked with the last track! It's the PPG show ending rock style! They called it "Powerpunk".Rock on & Save the world!"
