CD Reviews

Come to the Sabbat
The Beastmaster General | Maryland | 05/10/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Incredible collection of British satanic and occult music. The first disc covers '70-'89 and the second disc covers '90-'01. Highlights on the first disc include Angel Witch, Widow (super rare track), Witchfynde, Hell (another rarity), and Cloven Hoof. There are also some classics, like Sabbath, Black Widow, and Venom as well as some Thrash gems, like Onslaught and Warhammer (pre-Extreme Noise Terror and Napalm Death). Pagan Altar's song is a great Doom Metal track. There are no weak tracks here. From track 3 on it is pure HEAVY METAL (track 1 & 2 are not metal but still great songs). The only thing missing is a Witchfinder General track.

Disc 2 is pretty much all British black metal. Not really my cup of tea but a good overview of the British scene through the 90's.

This compilation is definitely worth picking up, even if, like me, you aren't interested in anything on the second disc. I ended up seeking out albums by almost every band on the first disc."
