Celebrating Fania Records' 30th anniversary.

"In 1994, Fania Records celebrated its 30th anniversary and although the company was by then a reissue label (with no new talent on its roster) it issued several historically-important packages chronicling its rich musical legacy. This 2-CD set features classics from such Salsa legends as Johnny Pacheco, Celia Cruz, Cheo Feliciano, Bobby Valentin, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Justo Betancourt, Pete "Conde" Rodriguez and Hector Lavoe--all names that are synonymous with the 1970s Salsa explosion which Fania spearheaded. The accompanying booklet features essays by Izzy Sanabria and Jerry Masucci about the label's rise to the top. I didn't give this package a 5-star rating, however, because there certainly was room for more than 15 songs here."
