"I've been familiar with Paul's work since the late 80's before he was even a signed artist (we played the Austin, Texas music scene together) and like the previous reviewer said, he is an extremely talented artist. I found Touch the Ground in a Christian music store in Brownsville, Texas and enjoyed it very much, although (believe it or not) I don't think it does full justice to Paul Q-Pek's talent. In addition to being a gifted songwriter, he has an awesome voice which I believe producers Dez Dickerson and Tedd T. under-utilized on this debut effort. Having said that, there are some very memorable songs on this CD, including the title song, "All Over You," "Sea Creature," and the wonderful remake of Howard Jones' "Things Can Only Get Better." Christian music fans of Delirous?, Jars of Clay, and Rebecca St. James will enjoy making Q-Pek part of their music collection."

"I bought Touch the Ground shortly after it came out while I lived in Milwaukee. I was fortunate enough to see Paul in concert around '97 or '98 when he toured in support of it.To put it mildly, I was blown away by his presence, intensity, passion and dynamic vocal range. I've probably seen over a hundred concerts in my life, but Paul's was one of the most memorable.Paul Q-Pek's voice is similar to Peter Gabriel's and his music is tinged with World Music styles and moods. But there the similarities end. Paul sings of deep, profound and moving spiritual truths. From the very first track (and the spoken, mysterious introduction, "It's just the beginning..."), I was hooked. The title track is an Enigma-like groove that uses imagery/analogy such as a "magic carpet ride" flying over the ground to make the point that Christians are supposed to "touch the ground," connect with it, get involved with it, not just pass blindly over it.The next track is a cover of the '80s Howard Jones hit "Things Can Only Get Better." It's well done and fitting, although I'm not sure Howard ever imagined his song would find itself on a Christian album some 15 years after he penned it.Although every track is a gem, my favorite is the third one: "Bring Jesus to Me." There aren't words to describe the impact this song has on me, so I won't even try. It moves me like few other songs ever have.In concert, every track becomes even more riveting and intense because of Paul's charistmatic stage presence and style. "If I Were President" is fun to listen to, but to watch it's even more captivating.I've been searching for more Paul Q-Pek albums lately, and have found none. I don't know if he still tours or not, either. If he never recorded another solo album, and if he no longer does concerts, the Christian world has lost one of its most important and best musical representatives. Wherever he is now, I hope someone encourages him to make another album and do more tours. Please? If you're a Christian, this CD is essential. If you're not, and you're merely a fan of well-crafted, passionate music, then you owe it to yourself to give this CD a listen."
