CD Reviews

Sound Quality [was not good!]
07/04/2003
(1 out of 5 stars)

"I love Oh Romeo, and love everything that Bobby Orlando does and produce. But Hot Productions, did a terrible job on transfering the master tapes on to CD. It's sound more like a used vinyl to CD, Collector, "O" Records collector and Hi-NRG collector BEWARE of awful sound."
Bobby O Trademark Disco
A. Griffiths | London | 04/19/2000
(2 out of 5 stars)

"Oh Romeo are best known for the hit "Saving Myself for the One that I Love", but who knew there was a whole albums worth of material available? Most entertaining in all Bobby Orlando productions are the lyrics he comes up with for his female vocalists, and there are some classics here, most notably in the afore-mentioned song as well as in the over-wrought "I'm In Love With A Married Man", which was, in a hilarious stroke of genius, covered later by the Pet Shop Boys from the point of view of a man!! (I doubt that Bobby saw the funny side, considering the well publicized rift between those two artists).

This and the other tracks are all done in the trademark banging bass'n'cowbells style of the Bobby O hit factory, but I agree with another reviewer on this page - the remastering is very poor, and the sound quality really varies. The track selection ain't so hot either...how about including the missing track "Call My Number" (why omit anything? - surely there's a pretty small pool of Oh Romeo "hits" to choose from in the first place!!) instead of THREE (!) versions of "These Memories"...?

Anyway, it's daft, fun, and often even more camp than the Flirts - One for "O" completists."
