"The master's transcription of the famous d-minor Chaconne (originally for violin) is alone worth the price of admission. Recorded in 1954, it sounds almost as good as some of the other
pieces from the late 1960s. The famous Segovia vibrato is evident and tasteful throughout, the liner notes are descriptive, and the session information is abundant. Excellent release by label D.G. from the DECCA vaults."

"During the live performance of Steve Hackett's acoustic "Live Archive 05" disc, he mentions an album entitled "Segovia Plays Bach" as being an influence on his acoustic classical guitar style. While I could never personally find an album under that title, this CD could very well have included tracks from the album that Hackett was referring to.
Every piece is this CD is extraordinarly performed and despite half of it being recorded in the early 1950's, the sound quality is fabulous throughout. It's easy to understand why Segovia has become such an influence to many musicians. His technique is flawless and original and his interpretations of these Bach pieces never fall below perfection.
This CD is highly recommended for any guitar fanatic as well as fans of Bach and Segovia. The music is great and the performances are historic and timeless.
Definitely a must!!!"
