"This is a masterful recording that took Richard Hartshorne his entire professional career to complete. It is the first ever recording of the Bach cello suites in the original register (complete with triple-stops) on a bass. This adds an entirely new (and beautiful) side to the familiar classics."
Interesting, once.

"In this recording, Bach's Cello Suites are performed on double bass rather than cello. If you are already familiar with the music, the resulting change in timbre creates an interesting effect. Unfortunately, the novelty ends there. The underlying performance is not especially compelling, and the bassist has a habit of using ponderously slow tempos that make the music sound belabored."
